Are "warmists" alarmists?

As a confirmed doubter about the "truth" of so-called anthropogenic warming of the planet myself, I was interested to read the ever vigilant co-conspirator Christopher Booker's article in yesterday's Sunday Telegraph.

"The vast mass of Antarctica, all satellite evidence has shown, has been getting colder over the past 30 years. Last year's sea-ice cover was 30 per cent above average."

I know it's not popular to say this but why the f**k do we continue to bang on about global warming being a man-made phenomenon? I wrote this blog last year about James Lovelock, (pictured) the man who developed the "Gaia" theory that the Earth is a living organism with self-healing powers that, for the most part, are beyond the power of us humans to control.

It was interesting to watch the "Explorer" programme on BBC2 last night which had a segment on a glacier in Argentina that refuses to conform to the stereotype of the IPCC reports that are pumped out regularly by the lazy media. (In fact, it was film of this glacier "calving" into the sea that had been used by Al Gore in his infamous film despite the fact that it had not reduced in size for any time that it has been measured in the past 18 years. On the other hand, we were told about another glacier that has shrunk by a kilometre in the last four years. OK, but why the difference in the two?)

I'm all in favour of conserving resources, re-cycling and cutting energy consumption but please don't try to convince me that the world will come to an end if I don't pay more taxes. My children and yours have enough to worry about as a result of the disastrous Labour government's mismanagement of our economy

Is The World Blowing Hot And Cold On Global Warming?

Did you know that during this winter in Afghanistan they have lost 300,000 cattle and the human death toll has risen above 1,500 as a result of the extreme cold? Or that in Tibet, six months of snow and record low temperatures have killed 500,000 animals and left three million people on the edge of starvation? No, I didn't either.

If you have already accepted the arguments made by Al Gore and his demented "green" followers that global warming will dominate our world for centuries to come you might find this report gives you "food" for thought.

After three days of what the chairman of the Manhattan Group called "the kind of free-spirited debate that is virtually absent from the global warming alarmist camp", the 500 delegates issued the Manhattan Declaration, stating that attempts by governments to reduce CO2 emissions would "markedly diminish further prosperity" while having "no appreciable impact" on the Earth's warming.

So, when you drive up the motorway in a few years time with all those wind turbines planted in the central reservation to generate piffling amounts of electricity and you look at the fields of oil seed rape being grown for bio-fuel just think yourself very lucky you can afford to own a car, much less afford the cost of the fuel.

He must have read my post about Al Gore's part in the rush to turn food-producing land into alternative sources to generate heating, lighting and transport fuel. I hope so!

Are you starving?

What should worry all of us more than the issue of whether so-called climate change is anthropogenic is the unintended consequences of this proposition on world food production.


Thanks partly to the Gore-induced panic, cereal production for human consumption (via animal feeds as well) is being switched to biofuel production. This is at a time when China and other rapidly developing countries are soaking up more and more of the world's wheat, meat and dairy products - and paying top dollar too - while we too are reducing our staple food output.


Time for Great Britain to stop thinking we can affect global changes in weather conditions by any kind of unilateral action and just concentrate on protecting our population's needs for the future.


We are used to relatively cheap food. The shock of 50% or 70% increases in our household food bills in the next few years will be worse than the rises in all the other taxes that Brown has imposed on us for the last 10 years.


Or is he going to nationalise Tesco as well as Northern Rock?
